Mozart Songs

PROGRAM NOTE

Mozart Songs is a response to Mozart's Piano Concerto No 12. in A Major, K. 414, as well as a kind of memoir in song, recounting early memories I have of traveling as a child with my father, the pianist Jeffrey Kahane, while, at the same time, exploring his relationship to his father. The musical materials are derived, in part, from motifs drawn from Mozart's concerto.
