La Croix

PROGRAM NOTE

In the winter of 2022, my friend Eric Jacobsen called with an odd request: would I be willing, he asked, to write, on very short notice, a brief work for chorus and orchestra with a very specific prompt? It needed to be about water, and it needed to be funny. What resulted is La Croix, a sideways indictment of our wasteful and environmentally disastrous consumer culture, seen through the lens of bottled water.
